Former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Bola Akinterinwa, has argued that former U.S. President Donald Trump is not superior in leadership to Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He explained that both leaders have faced criticism for their governance styles, but neither can be regarded as more capable than the other.

Akinterinwa highlighted that Trump’s policies during his time in office were widely divisive, while Tinubu is battling with Nigeria’s deep economic and political challenges. He maintained that leadership should not be about personality comparisons, but about addressing pressing issues and delivering results that impact the lives of citizens.

He further emphasized that both Nigeria and the United States need leaders who prioritize people-centered governance. According to him, the focus should be on how to improve institutions, strengthen democracy, and ensure that policies truly reflect the needs of the masses.
