The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has accused the Federal Government of diverting Osun State’s local government funds into private accounts belonging to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The union described the situation as a major setback to grassroots development, stressing that local government workers and communities are being deprived of their rightful funds.
According to NULGE, the alleged diversion has crippled the activities of councils across Osun State, making it difficult to provide essential services to the people. The group further alleged that instead of releasing the allocations directly to the councils, the money was paid into accounts of individuals linked to the opposition party. This, they argued, is a deliberate act to frustrate development at the local level.
The union has called for an urgent investigation into the matter, demanding accountability and transparency from those in charge. They also urged the Federal Government to ensure that all future allocations are released directly to local governments, rather than being handled in a way that raises suspicion and political controversy.
