Tension continues to play out in Rivers State politics as an ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara criticized loyalists of former governor Nyesom Wike for failing to attend a special anniversary service held to mark the state’s recent milestone. The absence of Wike’s men at the event was described as a deliberate act that questions their commitment to peace and unity in the state.

The Fubara camp stressed that the thanksgiving service was meant to promote reconciliation and harmony, yet the boycott showed that some politicians are not genuinely interested in peaceful coexistence. According to the ally, political leaders should rise above grudges and personal interests to embrace events that unite the people of Rivers State.

He further warned that peace cannot be achieved through words alone but must be proven through actions. He urged Wike’s loyalists to demonstrate their sincerity by joining efforts to strengthen Rivers’ unity rather than fueling division with their absence from important gatherings.
