A quiet farming community in Kwara State has been thrown into mourning after bandits attacked and killed a local farmer, leaving his brother critically injured. The attack, which happened in the early hours of the day, has sparked fear among residents who now live in constant worry over rising insecurity in the region.
Eyewitnesses said the bandits stormed the village while the farmer and his brother were working on their farmland. Sadly, the farmer lost his life on the spot, while his brother sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by rural dwellers who depend on farming for survival.
Community members have appealed to both the state and federal governments to urgently strengthen security in rural areas. They stressed that farmers can no longer work safely on their farmlands due to frequent bandit attacks, a situation that may worsen food insecurity if not addressed quickly.
