Award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has shared her personal battle with depression and how it affected her creative journey. The celebrated author admitted that at some point, writing felt like a heavy burden, and she struggled to find joy in the process.
Adichie explained that the pressure of expectations, grief, and the challenges of life often made her doubt her own voice. She revealed that stepping back from public attention and allowing herself space helped her slowly rediscover her strength and passion for storytelling.
According to her, the journey back was not easy, but embracing vulnerability and honesty played a key role. Adichie said she now feels renewed, ready to tell stories that reflect not just resilience but also the truth of human emotions.
