The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has declared that the National Assembly fully supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s borrowing plan.
Speaking during a session at the National Assembly, Speaker Abbas explained that the loans are necessary to finance critical infrastructure projects, boost economic recovery, and meet urgent national needs. He stressed that while borrowing must be done responsibly, it remains one of the practical ways to address Nigeria’s current fiscal challenges.
According to him, the Assembly will ensure strict monitoring and oversight to guarantee that borrowed funds are channeled into productive projects that directly benefit Nigerians. Abbas further assured citizens that the loans will not be mismanaged, adding that the legislature is committed to transparency and accountability.
The declaration has sparked mixed reactions, with some Nigerians supporting the move as a necessary step for development, while others remain worried about the growing debt burden.
