In a tragic incident on Monday, July 29, unknown gunmen ambushed and killed four police officers in the Irete community along Onitsha Road in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. The officers were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation when they were attacked.

The incident didn’t end there; a Point of Sale (PoS) operator was also killed in the ambush by the gunmen. This senseless act has left the community in shock and mourning.

This attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region and the bravery of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The community and the nation mourn their loss, and efforts are being made to improve security and prevent such tragedies in the future.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the fallen officers and the PoS operator during this difficult time. The need for enhanced security measures and community vigilance has never been more urgent.
