Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel has booked his spot in the men’s 400m hurdles final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships on Wednesday.
The young athlete secured his place after finishing first in the semi-final with an impressive time of 47.47 seconds.
At just 22 years old, Nathaniel has made history as only the second Nigerian to ever reach the final of the men’s 400m hurdles at the World Championships.
The first Nigerian to do so was Henry Amike, who achieved the feat back in 1987 during the competition in Rome, Italy.
The men’s 400m hurdles final is scheduled to take place on Friday.
Nathaniel will now aim to continue his strong run and possibly secure a medal for Nigeria, joining Tobi Amusan, who won silver in the women’s hurdles earlier on Monday.
