Afrobeats star Gabriel Oche Amanyi, also called Terry G, has shared his thoughts on how poor parenting affects the future of many Nigerians.
He explained that lack of proper upbringing from parents is one of the reasons why many people remain stuck in failure.
According to him, when parents constantly speak negatively to their children, it affects their self-confidence, which later shows up in their adult lives.
The singer, also known as the Akpako Master, encouraged Nigerians to break this negative cycle and start developing a positive mindset.
On his X account, Terry G wrote that Nigerian parents have had a strong impact—sometimes in harmful ways. He said when people make negative comments like “you can’t make it” or “you won’t succeed,” it is often not truly their own voice, but the voice of what they repeatedly heard from their parents while growing up.
He added that carrying this same negative energy into adulthood is the reason many people are stuck in failure. He urged everyone to stop repeating this cycle and start thinking positively in order to move forward in life.
