Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reacted strongly to comments made by Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, during a recent interview.
Tambuwal had criticized both Wike and President Bola Tinubu, sparking Wike’s promise of a firm response.
Wike insisted that he would not let Tambuwal’s remarks slide. According to him, his response will come soon, and Nigerians will hear his side clearly.
During an interview on Friday, Tambuwal stated that if given the choice for Nigeria’s leadership in 2027, he would prefer former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over President Tinubu.
Tambuwal went further to add that he would also pick Atiku over Wike when it comes to who should lead the country.
Reacting, Wike said he would use the opportunity to expose what true betrayal looks like and explain what it means to stand by one’s word and show real integrity.
The Minister’s position was shared in a statement by his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka.
The statement noted: “I have received many calls, especially from journalists, asking for the Minister’s reaction. Aside from the comments made about him, Tambuwal also spoke against President Tinubu, and such will not be ignored.”
The aide further stressed that Wike will speak out at the right time and will set the record straight for Nigerians.
“Until then, let’s wait and see,” the statement concluded.
