Residents of Oworonshoki, Lagos, took to the streets today, blocking the 3rd Mainland Bridge to protest the recent demolition of their houses by the state government.
The angry residents, who turned out in large numbers, accused the government of carrying out the demolition without proper notice or any form of compensation, leaving many families without shelter.
Holding up placards, the protesters demanded that the authorities take responsibility and provide urgent solutions to their plight.
The protest, which started early in the morning, caused heavy traffic on the bridge, forcing motorists to look for alternative routes.
Security officials later arrived at the scene to calm the situation and reopen the road for vehicles.
