Lagos clears Illegal street traders at Mile 2

On September 8, the Lagos State Government carried out an operation to remove illegal street traders at the 2nd Rainbow Junction, heading into Mile 2. This move is part of the state’s effort to keep major roads organized and safe.

The state’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared a video of the clean-up on X. The footage shows officers clearing traders whose activities were blocking traffic, putting pedestrians in danger, and polluting the area.

Wahab explained that the traders had become a nuisance by obstructing vehicles, endangering people walking nearby, and littering the environment. The government sees the action as necessary to restore order on busy streets.

The commissioner also emphasized that the state will continue working to keep Lagos roads safe, clean, and free from environmental violations. “We are committed to maintaining a safe and sustainable urban environment,” Wahab stated.
