A doctor from Michigan has been arrested after an undercover operation revealed he allegedly tried to arrange sexual activity with a 5-year-old girl.

Authorities said Dr. William J. Murdoch communicated online with a police officer posing as a mother. He reportedly tried to gain her trust and then asked if her child could be involved in sexual acts with him.

Police described the online messages as shocking, noting that Murdoch detailed disturbing plans to groom the child.

Investigators also found additional conversations on his iCloud and messaging accounts suggesting he misused his medical knowledge in alarming ways connected to the dark web.

Authorities also reported that some of the discussions included topics like conception, abortion, and intentionally causing birth defects through drugs and alcohol.

Murdoch has been charged with soliciting a parent to allow sexual conduct with a child and will be extradited to Florida.

Public records list him as the Associate Director for Family Medicine at Monroe Regional Hospital in Michigan.

Following his arrest, the hospital’s owner, ProMedica, immediately suspended his privileges and ended all activities involving him.
