Famous goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa’s transfer plans collapsed when he reportedly left for a coffee break during negotiations and never came back.
The 40-year-old flew to Spain to discuss joining Burgos. During the talks, Ochoa’s team asked to pause and review one part of the contract over a coffee. After that, both he and his agents disappeared, ignoring calls from the club.
According to Spanish journalist Sergio Gonzalez Pulgar, Burgos had already completed the medical check and agreed on most terms with Ochoa’s representatives.
However, before leaving for a hot drink, Ochoa insisted that one clause in the contract needed to be changed. After that, he vanished, leaving the deal unfinished.
Throughout his career, Ochoa has played for clubs including América, AC Ajaccio, Salernitana, Málaga, Granada, Standard Liège, and ABC in Portugal.
He has also represented Mexico in five World Cups. With 151 appearances for Mexico, Ochoa is now a free agent and without a club.
