Female football not as rewarding as male football – Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has spoken about the challenges female players face, saying women’s football still doesn’t bring the same rewards as men’s football.

She explained that the difference between the two is very clear, especially when it comes to financial benefits.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward revealed this during a recent episode of the Leadership Podcast with Stephen Akintayo.

Ajibade admitted that women’s football has improved compared to 10–12 years ago, but she stressed that the gap in pay and recognition between male and female players remains huge.

“Women’s football is far from being as rewarding as men’s. The money we make cannot be compared at all. Yes, things are getting better every year, but the difference is still very big,” she said.

The Nigerian star linked the inequality to poor awareness and low sponsorship for women’s football.

She called on brands, fans, and stakeholders to give more support and funding to women’s football so the game can grow stronger.
