Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has shared that the inspiration behind her tattoo came from the pain of heartbreak.

She explained that instead of going to a tattoo parlour, she flew in a tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos.

According to her, she wanted to be in a private and comfortable space, away from the eyes of strangers, while going through such an emotional and painful process.

In a recent interview with media personality Katy Igwe, Tiwa revealed that the tattoo session was bloody, and the artist was worried for her.

He kept asking questions, shocked at the amount of blood, but went ahead with the work after seeing her determination.

The singer said the tattoo was her way of releasing the pain she felt. She described it as something she needed to do to “scream out” her emotions during that difficult period.

Looking back, Tiwa admitted that the last two years were very tough due to a toxic relationship. She, however, expressed joy that she has now healed and moved on from that experience.
