You will need therapy when you become successful musician – Zlatan tells upcoming artistes

Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has advised upcoming artistes to make plans for their mental health as they chase fame. He explained that once they succeed, the pressure of the music industry could make them need professional therapy.

The Zanku crooner shared this on his social media page on Thursday, telling rising stars and their sponsors to budget for therapy alongside marketing.

According to Zlatan, anyone who believes their sibling or friend will become a star should keep money aside not only for promotion but also for therapy, because the journey can be mentally challenging.

His advice reflects the common belief that the music industry is emotionally draining. Many Nigerian artistes have also spoken about experiencing depression while navigating the pressures of fame.

In 2022, singer Omah Lay revealed on X that his depression worsened after a personal incident involving his therapist, showing how serious mental health struggles can become in the industry.
