There was deep sorrow yesterday in Eziakpu Village, Ikenga, Aguata LGA of Anambra State, as family and friends gathered to bury Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, popularly known as Fish Magnate.
Onyekesi, a fish trader and processor, had built a strong presence on social media to promote his business.
He lost his life last month after being kidnapped by unidentified individuals. His body was later found in a nearby town, and his family was instructed to retrieve it.
The burial, held on Thursday at Ikenga community, was emotional. Loved ones and neighbors openly wept as he was laid to rest.
The ceremony was brief and solemn. Anambra State’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, attended on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, offering support to the grieving family.
Speeches were minimal, with the family leading heartfelt prayers at the graveside.
The killing has sparked reactions across the state. Activist Martins Otse, also known as Very Dark Man, visited the community and organized a protest, urging an end to violent crimes in Anambra State.
