Russian kids as young as 8 seen handling AK-47s and grenades in military drill

In Russia, children as young as eight are being taught how to use rifles and throw grenades at a summer camp aimed at preparing the next generation for military service under Vladimir Putin.

At the camp in the Rostov region near the Ukrainian border, kids were given rifles that looked real and were guided by soldiers who have experience in the Ukraine conflict.

Eight-year-old Ivan Glushchenko said his favorite part of the camp was throwing hand grenades and firing dummy shots, showing how excited the children were about the activities.

Around 83 children, aged 8 to 17, joined in activities like a “route march” along the River Don. They ran, crawled through sand and shallow water, carrying weapons and wearing camouflage uniforms.

Some teenagers admitted the march was very tough, with one girl saying she nearly died, while another explained that they had to complete the march three times.

A camper named David said the camp helped him test his limits and discover how strong his willpower is.

One instructor, Alexander Shopin, who was injured while fighting in Ukraine, still participated in the camp and brought his daughter to join the activities.

Shopin said the camp helps shape children and teach teamwork, explaining that running as part of a group and not letting friends down was an important lesson for his daughter.

The camp is part of efforts to teach patriotism and prepare children for future military service. Instructor Vladimir Yanenko said children enjoy structured, meaningful activities rather than spending time idly.

Older participants, like Anton, expressed their desire to serve their country and remain loyal, showing the camp’s focus on instilling dedication and patriotism from a young age.
