In a dramatic incident in Lokoja, Kogi State, eight school children narrowly escaped death in a severe truck accident. The children, pupils of Kingdom Heritage Nursery and Primary School, were involved in a terrifying crash when a heavy-duty truck carrying a container toppled and fell on two small vehicles.

The accident occurred on Thursday at the Lokongoma market, a bustling area in Lokoja. As the children were returning from school, the truck lost control and fell, crushing the vehicles they were in. The scene was chaotic as bystanders and first responders rushed to help.

Emergency services, including the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant agencies, arrived swiftly at the scene. Their combined efforts were crucial in rescuing the trapped children. Despite the severity of the accident, the quick and coordinated response ensured that all the children were safely extracted from the wreckage.

Kogi State Security Adviser Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.) was on site to oversee the rescue operation and ensure the safety of the children. As of 5:17 PM, efforts were still ongoing to remove the fallen truck from the road. The accident had caused significant disruption to traffic in the area, and the road was being cleared to restore normal flow.
