Four k!lled as suspected herders attack Benue communities

Suspected armed herders have reportedly killed four people and destroyed several properties in different communities within Tombu Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.

A community leader, Joseph Anawah, confirmed that the attack happened on Monday, August 25.

He explained that the suspected Fulani attackers stormed the area around 3:00 p.m. and set many abandoned houses on fire, including those in Tse Mku, Tombu Council Ward.

According to him, two victims were murdered while working on their farms near Ayilamo. The deceased were identified as Mr. Kaananfam Nyamikume from Tse Jigam village and Mr. Mson from Guma LGA, alongside a local medicine seller.

He further revealed that another victim, Mr. Saaondo Mundu Azaye, a resident of Tse Azaye, also lost his life in the attack.

On Tuesday, youths and residents of Ayilamo and nearby villages went searching for missing persons. During the search, they discovered two bodies close to Tse Uza settlement, while two other farmers remain unaccounted for.

Anawah alleged that the armed herders were hiding in deserted communities, including Tse Ibor, Tse Ukpukuru, Anyibe, and other settlements in the Mbawien clan of Tombu Council Ward, Logo LGA.
