Police in Ekiti State have arrested a man accused of beating his wife to death. Reports say the couple, who lived in Efon Alaaye, worked as farmers.
On the day of the incident, the man had been waiting for his wife at the farm, but she arrived late. Out of anger, he allegedly assaulted her badly, leaving her with severe injuries and pain.
Residents explained that the woman cried and pleaded for mercy as her husband continued to beat her. After a while, he ordered her to fetch water from a nearby stream. Sadly, she collapsed beside the stream and died due to weakness.
Confirming the case, the police spokesperson in Ekiti, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspect is in custody. He added that the man will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
