A Nigerian man, Chinedu Victor Ogba, has remembered his late father, Sunday Okechukwu Ogba, and two younger siblings, Chigozirim (17) and Eberechi (14), who sadly lost their lives after eating suya.
He marked their fourth death anniversary with an emotional remembrance.
Chinedu recalled that his father, siblings, and four other relatives aged 3, 9, 10, and 12, all passed away after eating suya on August 25, 2021.
The heartbreaking incident took place in Umueze Umuakanu community, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State.
On Monday, August 25, 2025, Chinedu shared a tribute on his Facebook page, saying he will always keep their memories alive and strive to live a life they would be proud of.
“It has been four years since I lost my dad and siblings in a sudden tragedy that changed my life. Not a single day goes by without remembering you all,” he wrote.
He added that he chooses to celebrate their love, laughter, and unbreakable bond, noting that although they are gone, their memories remain his greatest treasure.
Reports revealed that on the day of the tragedy, the Ikwunze family—Mr. and Mrs. Chibuzor Ikwunze and their children—visited the Ogba family. They all shared the suya which Sunday Ogba had bought.
Sadly, after eating the roasted meat, the victims began to vomit and later died.
However, Mrs. Jessy Chinonyerem Ogba and her daughter, Ijeoma Blessing, survived the incident after receiving urgent medical care at the hospital.
