Pastor Dolapo Adelakun, a Nigerian preacher, has advised women to focus on their peace in God instead of trying to control their husbands or hold on to things that can easily be lost. She shared this message while recounting a personal experience that changed her outlook on life.
She explained that one morning, the Holy Spirit spoke to her about life, teaching her never to claim ownership of anything except her faith in God and love for herself.
According to her, children, spouses, property, and wealth can all be taken away, but inner faith and self-love are treasures that remain.
Not long after receiving this lesson, she was called to pray for a relative in a psychiatric hospital. On entering the female ward, she was shocked to see how many women were admitted there.
She later discovered that most of them were suffering because of family or relationship issues. Some had been abandoned by fiancés, others had lost children, while some were broken by their husbands taking second wives or dying suddenly.
There were also cases where daughters accused their mothers of witchcraft or fathers excluded them from inheritance, leaving them mentally shattered.
When she visited the male ward, she found only four men. Three of them were admitted because of drug problems, while one was there after losing his job. Unlike the women, none of their cases were linked to marital or family troubles.
From this experience, Pastor Adelakun urged women not to lose themselves over marriages, relationships, or material things. She stressed that once a woman loses her peace of mind, she loses everything.
She concluded by warning that the devil will always try to shake whatever people hold on to, which is why it is safer to anchor life on God and self-love. According to her, these are the only assets no one can take away.
