Seven people lost their lives while several others were injured in a ghastly accident along the Damaturu-Maiduguri highway in Yobe State.

The crash happened close to Warsala village in Potiskum Local Government Area and involved two vehicles — a Toyota Sienna bus and a Toyota Corolla.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragic incident was caused by excessive speeding from both vehicles.

An emergency responder from the Yobe Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (YEMABUS) confirmed that rescue teams quickly rushed to the scene to evacuate the victims.

“The bodies of those who died and the injured passengers were taken to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for medical attention,” the responder explained.

YEMABUS spokesperson, Ibrahim Waziri, also confirmed the crash, stating that seven people — including four adults and three children — died, while several others sustained injuries.
