Nigerian artist, Naira Marley, has finally addressed accusations that linked him to the tragic death of his former signee, MohBad.
In a video shared online, Marley revealed that the last time he met MohBad was on October 4, 2022, after an argument between the singer and his manager.
He explained that despite their past problems – including MohBad’s clash with NDLEA, a suicide attempt, a lawsuit with his music distributor, and his exit from Marlian Music – MohBad was still thinking about reconciling before his passing.
Speaking on the day MohBad died, September 12, 2023, Marley stated he was not in Nigeria. He said he was first in Amsterdam before meeting Zinoleesky in Montenegro for a music video shoot.
According to him, he has passport stamps, videos, and witnesses to prove he was outside the country.
Reacting to the video of Sam Larry confronting MohBad on set, Marley explained that he first saw it online like everyone else. He insisted the clip was not from the day MohBad died. Marley added that Zlatan, who was present, later confirmed that no violence happened on that day.
Marley alleged that some blogs were paid to share old videos just to paint him guilty. He stressed that he was unfairly accused, which made it hard for him to properly mourn MohBad.
He pointed to a leaked voice note where MohBad admitted being paranoid and scared after some past experiences.
Marley said MohBad’s partner also confirmed that the late singer battled depression and was once treated in a psychiatric hospital. According to Marley, MohBad never fully recovered after the NDLEA raid.
Naira Marley strongly denied ever bullying MohBad or sending people to intimidate him. He also dismissed a viral Snapchat video of him dancing after MohBad’s death, explaining it was an old clip used against him.
