Dangote Group abandoned student crushed by company’s truck for 11 months — VeryDarkMan

A popular social media activist, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused Dangote Group of neglecting a 22-year-old woman who was reportedly crushed by one of the company’s truck drivers in Auchi, Edo State.

VeryDarkMan shared a video on Instagram showing the injured woman at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital on Monday, highlighting her ongoing struggle.

The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, has reportedly spent 11 months in the hospital with medical expenses exceeding N5 million.

VDM said he took part in a protest opposing the reckless movement of Dangote trucks in Auchi, demanding that the company take responsibility for victims.

He stated, “When we arrived at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State, we saw a young woman who had been hit by a Dangote truck.

She has been hospitalized for 11 months with bills over 5 million naira, and Dangote has left her without support. Let the world know we will not allow Dangote trucks here until all victims are properly cared for.”

As of the report’s filing, Dangote Group has not responded to the allegations.

This accusation follows a similar incident where Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, demanded action after her sister, Ruth, was involved in a truck accident in the same area. Three days later, Dangote Group promised to cover all medical costs for Ruth.

The spate of accidents comes as Dangote Refinery prepares to deploy 4,000 new compressed natural gas trucks for nationwide fuel distribution. However, the project, originally scheduled to start on August 15, has not yet begun.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) explained that delays in truck registration are holding back the refinery’s fuel and diesel distribution plan, even though some trucks have already been delivered.
