Early on Saturday morning, a Lexus SUV rammed into a tricycle, instantly killing one passenger. Other passengers on the tricycle were injured.

The SUV driver and other passengers fled the scene immediately. The crash happened near Peoples Club by Limca Road in Obosi, close to Onitsha.

Police confirmed the accident. The deceased was taken to the morgue, while the injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent unrest, and the abandoned Lexus SUV has been recovered.

The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into the crash. Preliminary information shows the Lexus driver hit two tricycles, locally called Keke, causing the death and injuries.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, ordered a full-scale investigation and urged residents to remain calm and assist the police as they work to uncover all details of the incident.
