BREAKING: By-election: Politician, INEC officials, others arrested with large cash in Ogun

Security operatives in Ogun State have arrested some individuals suspected to be staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a large amount of money ahead of the state’s by-election.

Among those arrested was a politician accused of planning to buy votes during the election. They were reportedly taken into custody at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, within the Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

A video circulating on social media on Saturday showed the politician and two INEC officials, a man and a woman, being interrogated by security agents. They were also seen squatting alongside people believed to be members of the PDP.

The security officer questioning them said intelligence reports revealed that the INEC staff had earlier been approached and given a large sum of money by party officials to influence voters during the by-election.
