A senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Sani, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s return to politics in 2027 would affect President Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning a second term.

Sani explained that President Tinubu is already working to secure support from the South-South, focusing on states like Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Friday, Sani said Jonathan’s entry into the race would disrupt Tinubu’s plans.

He added that the South-South would stand firmly behind Jonathan, as they would not want to abandon their own for any other candidate. According to him, they would come out in large numbers to support him.

Sani also noted that Jonathan’s return would harm Tinubu’s chances more than it would affect candidates from the North, as the North would become a major battleground for Jonathan.
