In a significant political development, Republican lawmaker Andy Ogles from Tennessee has filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris. Ogles accuses Harris of failing to manage the border crisis effectively and misleading the American people and Congress about President Joe Biden’s health.
Border Security Concerns
The first article of impeachment focuses on Harris’s role in border security. As the “border czar,” she is charged with the responsibility of overseeing immigration laws. Ogles claims that Harris has not done enough in this role, leading to an unprecedented number of illegal border crossings. He highlighted that in December 2023, nearly 302,000 illegal aliens were encountered at the southwest border, marking the highest monthly total ever recorded. This surge included four consecutive months with over 240,000 encounters.
Public Trust Issues
The second article accuses Harris of breaching public trust by allegedly misleading the public and Congress about President Biden’s health. Ogles asserts that Harris knowingly provided false information regarding Biden’s physical and cognitive well-being, compromising transparency and trust.
Call for the 25th Amendment
Additionally, Ogles has called on Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment against President Biden, citing concerns about his health. If invoked, this amendment would make Harris the acting president. This move reflects growing concerns among Republican lawmakers about what Harris knew regarding Biden’s mental state.
