Comedian Bovi has shared his opinion on the recent incident involving a passenger on an Ibom Air flight, pointing out that the issue goes beyond just legal punishment.
The trouble started on a Uyo to Lagos flight when a woman refused to switch off her phone, slapped a flight attendant, and struggled with airport security while leaving the plane. Videos of the event showed the situation escalating until officials intervened and removed her.
Bovi recognized the disruptive behavior but asked for compassion alongside holding her accountable. He said it looked like she was going through a mental health crisis and that while she should face the law, she also needs mental health treatment.
He praised the airport staff for handling the situation professionally and stressed that mental health support should be part of the response.
This incident highlights the importance of understanding mental health issues in handling disruptive situations, showing that sometimes people need help, not just punishment.
