At least six people have died and twelve others were injured in a fatal road accident in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Eyewitnesses said the crash happened on Sunday around 3:00 pm along the Ringim-Dutse road when a speeding driver rammed into a crowd gathered to welcome the Governor for a public event known locally as “Gwamnati da Jana’s.”

Victims, including pregnant women and children, were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for emergency treatment. Three people died instantly, while three others passed away later in the hospital.

Ringim FRSC Unit Commander, CRC Ado Adamu, confirmed the accident, explaining that their rescue team responded quickly after receiving the report. He said the ash-coloured Golf car, with registration number FKJ 102BB, lost control before ploughing into the gathering.

Some of the injured were transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
