The leader of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, said that only God will decide who takes over from him when the time is right.

He warned church members not to pressure him into naming a successor and made it clear that even his wife cannot tell him what to do.

At a recent Bible study, the 83-year-old pastor said nobody can force him out of his role.

He shared, “The brother who taught last Tuesday kept repeating that there is no leadership without a successor. He said it twice, and I felt it was too much, especially since your father is still here. God will choose a successor in His own time.

“You should not fight your leader. I will reject any church member — whether a worker, choir member, or security guard — who tries to control me.

“I won’t even accept that from my wife because I am the head of my home. I stand firm, and no one will pressure me.

“If God gives you a pastor who is still active and preaching well at this age, and you already want a successor, it feels like you are tired of me and don’t want me around.

“When the time is right, God will pick the right man. Don’t try to push me out, even though I know you can’t.”
