The Kano State Hisbah Board has taken into custody a man named Taufiq in the Sabuwar Gandu area after he was accused of being involved in witchcraft.

Deputy Commander of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudden, confirmed the arrest in a statement shared with news reporters on Friday.

According to Sheikh Mujahid, the arrest came after the board received numerous complaints from people living in the area. This led Hisbah officials to launch an investigation into Taufiq’s activities.

He explained that the alleged practice caused fear and discomfort among residents, prompting them to seek help from the authorities.

“After completing our investigation, Hisbah officers went ahead to apprehend the suspect,” Mujahid Aminudden stated.

The statement further revealed that Taufiq will face legal action for allegedly engaging in witchcraft, which is a criminal offense under Kano State law.
