A community group known as the Bokkos Likeminds Association (BLA) has condemned the ongoing violence in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The group described the situation as genocide, citing frequent killings, the destruction of villages, and displacement of residents.

The BLA blamed the attacks on suspected Fulani militias and called on the federal and state governments, along with security agencies, to urgently act to stop the violence. They said immediate intervention is necessary to prevent further bloodshed and protect affected communities.

In a joint statement signed by its President, Dr. ST Nguwap, and General Secretary, Engr. Morgan Mangai, the group claimed that the actions of these militias have led to the loss of hundreds of lives. Entire villages have reportedly been destroyed, while many locals have been driven away from their homes and farms.

According to the group, the attacks appear to be organized and strategic. They warned that the continuous violence threatens the existence of the Bokkos people, many of whom have been forced to abandon their ancestral lands in search of safety.

Among the demands listed by the BLA is the eviction of Fulani immigrants who have no legal or ancestral connection to the land. They also urged the government to impose a total ban on open grazing and instead promote the use of ranches.

The group further called for stronger enforcement of immigration laws, tighter border control, and legal recognition of the rights of indigenous communities, including their right to defend themselves when necessary.

BLA concluded by appealing to both state and federal governments, as well as international bodies, to take urgent steps to ensure justice, security, and lasting peace in Bokkos and surrounding areas.
