A man in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is dealing with deep emotional pain after discovering that his girlfriend lied about being pregnant and even organized a fake funeral using a doll instead of a real baby.
Nkululeko Zulu, who lives in Machibini, Mandeni, had been dating 44-year-old Diyana Makukeke for two years. She told him she was expecting his baby. Excited by the news, Zulu supported her emotionally and also gave her money during the entire fake pregnancy.
Zulu told Daily Sun about the strange events. He said she used to visit often in the beginning, but over time she stopped coming. One day, she told him she had already given birth, but didn’t show any photos. Before he could ask more questions, she claimed the baby had passed away.
Feeling crushed by the news, Zulu and his family got ready for the funeral. He paid for transportation from Durban (where she said the baby was born) to his home in Mandeni. He also covered food costs for guests. Local people helped by digging a grave near the family burial area.
On August 2nd, Diyana came a day later than planned. She arrived in a van carrying a small coffin. Everything seemed ready for the burial. However, Zulu’s older brother requested that the coffin be opened so Nkululeko could follow their tradition and wipe the baby’s face before burial.
What they saw inside shocked everyone. Zulu said he almost passed out when he saw a doll, dressed like a baby, lying in the coffin. He couldn’t believe what was happening.
While people were still trying to understand what they had seen, Diyana disappeared from the scene. She hasn’t been seen since. The whole community is stunned by what happened and many are angry and confused about why she would go so far to lie.
