Farida Sultana Auduson Ibrahim, better known as Sultana from Big Brother Naija Season 10, recently shared why she decided to follow Islam instead of Christianity.
The 25-year-old model, who is known for embracing her plus-size beauty, said her decision was based on personal experience. She grew up in a home with both religions – her dad is Muslim and her mom is Christian. After some reflection, she chose to practice Islam because it suits her best.
Sultana also revealed that she was once a Catholic. She even had a baptismal name, Josephine, before switching to Islam later in life.
She spoke about her journey during a casual chat with another housemate, Zita, on Wednesday evening.
During the conversation, Zita asked if Sultana’s parents were devout Muslims. Sultana replied that she was raised attending both church and mosque since her parents follow different faiths. While her mother is Christian, she explained, her father is Muslim. In the end, Sultana chose Islam because it felt right for her personally.
Her father hails from Adamawa State and follows Islam, while her mother is a Christian from Yala in Cross River State. This blend of backgrounds gave her the freedom to explore both religions before making her choice.
