The Sokoto State Police Command has provided N14.1 million in financial support to families of officers who lost their lives or sustained injuries while serving in the line of duty.
A total of N14,120,491.70 was handed out during a short event held at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto. The money came from different police welfare initiatives, including the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, the Group Life Assurance, and the Group Personal Accident Scheme.
During the event, Deputy Commissioner Umar Abubakar Sokoto represented the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa. He explained that the support is meant to offer some relief to the families during difficult times and encouraged them to spend the funds wisely.
One of the recipients, Attahiru Sulaiman, who spoke on behalf of the others, thanked the police leadership for the gesture and assured them that the money would be used responsibly.
The Command also emphasized its ongoing commitment to the welfare of its officers—both those still serving and those retired—as well as the families of those who died while on duty.
