Arsenal: Richards gives verdict on Gyokeres, advises Arteta to replace Martinelli with Eze

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s newest signing, Viktor Gyokeres, and made a bold suggestion to improve the team further.

Richards believes Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta should consider making a change on the left wing. Instead of relying on Gabriel Martinelli, Richards feels that Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze would be a better option for the Gunners.

He gave this opinion while speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, where he praised Arsenal’s decision to bring in Gyokeres from Sporting CP in a £64 million deal.

Richards highlighted the fact that Arsenal have long been in need of a natural striker. “We kept saying it every week last season — they really needed a striker,” he said.

He also pointed out that Arsenal would benefit from signing a new left winger. Referring to the club’s reported interest in Eze, Richards said: “Martinelli is good, but I see him more as a player who makes an impact off the bench. Eze would be an amazing addition.”

Speaking about Gyokeres, Richards described him as a smart and dangerous striker. While he admitted that some fans may doubt if Gyokeres can perform at the highest level consistently, he personally sees the signing as a strong move.

“I’ve watched many clips of him,” Richards added. “He has intelligent movement and will give defenders a tough time. He’s exactly the kind of player Arsenal needed up front.”
