The Nigerian Army says it has made big progress in its fight against terrorism and crime. On Thursday, soldiers killed many terrorists, arrested 15 suspects, and recovered weapons and army equipment during operations happening across the country.
A trusted source at the Army Headquarters shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the military is keeping up its efforts to deal with terrorists and criminals in all regions.
In Borno State, soldiers from the 151 Task Force Battalion killed a terrorist during an ambush around the Sabsawa area in Bama Local Government. They also recovered an AK-47 rifle with 28 bullets.
Still in Borno, troops from the 192 Battalion, patrolling the Pulka–Ngoshe road in Gwoza Local Government, killed another terrorist and seized an AK-47. The presence of blood along the route suggested more terrorists may have been injured or killed.
Five family members of ISWAP/JAS terrorists—two women and three children—surrendered to the Army at Banki Junction in Bama after escaping from Bula Daloye village.
Also in the state, soldiers from the 50 Task Force Battalion and 134 Special Forces Battalion found two artillery shells during an ambush between Marte and Dikwa in Dikwa Local Government Area.
In Lagos, the Army arrested 12 people in Ojota for pretending to be military officers. They were wearing fake uniforms and claiming to be members of a made-up military corps.
Another man in army-style camouflage was caught by Operation SWEEP forces in Waru, within Abuja’s Municipal Area Council.
In the South-East, troops arrested two suspected cult members in Umuahia South, Abia State. They were found with two locally made pistols, six cartridges, and other items.
In Rivers State, soldiers from the 343 Artillery Regiment intercepted two wooden boats carrying about 400 litres of illegally refined oil in Onelga Local Government Area. The suspects ran away when they saw the soldiers.
The Nigerian Army has promised to continue these efforts until criminals are cleared from the country and peace is fully restored.
