A 20-year-old woman has died under strange circumstances during a long-distance bus ride in Brazil. Reports say she collapsed on the journey and was later found to have 26 iPhones glued directly to her body.
She began feeling unwell while the bus was in motion and passed away before she could receive hospital care. The woman had been travelling alone from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo, and the incident took place when the bus made a scheduled stop at a restaurant in Guarapuava, a city located in the central part of Paraná.
Emergency services were contacted after she complained about having trouble breathing. Medical workers from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) arrived to assist. They found her conscious but struggling to breathe. Her condition soon worsened, and she appeared to suffer a seizure.
Despite efforts by paramedics who tried to revive her for 45 minutes, she was declared dead at the scene. While they were attending to her, they noticed something unusual—several packages taped directly to her skin.
Upon further inspection, police discovered the packages were actually 26 iPhones. Officers from the Military Police called in experts from the Scientific Police and Civil Police to assist with the case.
No drugs were found on the woman, even after a sniffer dog was used to search her belongings. However, authorities did seize several bottles of alcohol from her luggage.
In a public statement, the Paraná Civil Police confirmed that they are investigating the matter and are awaiting results from forensic tests to determine the cause of death. According to early reports, she had been travelling alone with the phones taped to her body. The seized iPhones have been turned over to the Federal Revenue Service.
Her identity has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to understand what really happened.
