Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has openly criticized the current administration under President Bola Tinubu, saying most Nigerians are no longer happy with the government because of hunger and lack of money.
Speaking in Yoruba, Fayemi noted that things are getting worse for ordinary citizens. He explained that people are struggling every day, and pretending otherwise is just self-deception.
Fayemi highlighted the poor condition of federal roads in Ekiti State. He mentioned that anyone travelling from Efon Alaaye to Erio Ekiti or from Omuo Ekiti through Ilasa to Ayedun Ekiti would understand the terrible state of those roads.
According to him, when his administration worked on the road project now completed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, it cost between N18 billion and N20 billion. However, the Federal Government refused to refund the money spent on the project.
He expressed frustration that the Federal Government claimed it never asked the state to fix the road, so there would be no refund. Fayemi questioned this logic, asking if the money had been refunded, wouldn’t it have helped the governor continue with the second phase of the Ado Ekiti to Iyin Ekiti road and even extend it to Aramoko-Ekiti?
Fayemi’s comments reflect the growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians who are dealing with a tough economy, high cost of living, and lack of visible government support in key areas like infrastructure and development.
