Former Barcelona player Carles Perez is in serious condition after he was bitten by a dog near his private area.

The 27-year-old footballer, who now plays for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece, was walking his dog when another dog attacked. While trying to separate the two animals, the other dog bit him in the groin area.

The injury was serious, and he was quickly taken to a hospital. Reports from Marca say he needed six stitches to close the deep wound.

Another report from Prime Sport said doctors also considered doing surgery on the injured spot because of how bad it was.

Before the injury, Perez had played in a Europa Conference League match, where Aris Thessaloniki lost 2-1 to Araz-Nakhchivan in the first leg of the second qualifying round.

Due to the injury, local media say Perez will not be available to play in the second leg of the game in Thessaloniki.

Carles Perez came through the youth system at Barcelona and made 11 appearances for the first team. He played his debut match for the club in 2019.
