Gov Abdulrazaq not planning to build new Govt House – Commissioner

The Kwara State Government has started building new offices to help improve the working conditions of civil and public servants. The goal is to make service delivery to the people more effective.

This announcement came just days after the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed that the government was secretly planning to build a new Government House in Ilorin.

The foundation for the new office project was laid in Ilorin, the state capital.

Dr Segun Ogunsola, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, said the new office building is located next to the Deputy Governor’s Office and the current Government House in Ilorin.

He also made it clear that the government is not building a new Government House, as reported by some sources.

Dr Ogunsola explained that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq wants to provide a better and more comfortable workspace for government staff. The office construction is part of this larger plan.

The new building will be a one-storey structure. It will have a conference room and several offices, among other features.

The commissioner said his ministry will monitor the project closely to ensure the contractor follows all the building plans and finishes the work within one year.

He added that these new offices will help improve how the government operates and make it easier to bring the benefits of good governance to both rural and urban areas.
