Eko and Ikeja Discos announce three-week power shedding as TCN begins critical repairs

The electricity companies in Lagos, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric, have announced that there will be a power outage for three weeks starting Monday, July 28, 2025. This is because the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) needs to carry out important repairs.

Both electricity companies shared the information on their official Twitter accounts. They explained that the daily power cuts will happen from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day and will continue until Thursday, August 21, 2025. The reason for the outage is to allow TCN to work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, which plays a big role in supplying power in the region.

This particular transmission line is very important for sending electricity across Lagos and nearby areas. During the repair period, people living in areas served by EKEDC and Ikeja Electric should expect irregular power supply and planned load shedding.
