Wizkid becomes first African Artiste to hit 9 billion streams on Spotify

Nigerian music star Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, has reached a huge milestone by getting more than 9 billion streams on Spotify.

With this achievement, Wizkid becomes the very first African musician to reach 9 billion total streams on the popular music platform.

The most streamed song that features Wizkid is One Dance, which he did with Drake and British singer Kyla. That song alone has been streamed over 3.7 billion times.

One Dance is not only popular but is also one of the top 10 most streamed songs ever on Spotify. It even holds a Guinness World Record as the first song to pass 1 billion streams on the app.

As for songs where Wizkid is the main artist, his most streamed track is Essence, which features fellow Nigerian singer Tems. The song has been played over 303 million times on Spotify.

Despite Wizkid’s record, American pop star Taylor Swift remains the most streamed artist on Spotify, with over 1.5 billion streams to her name.
