Santos FC’s captain, Neymar, was caught arguing with a fan after his team lost 2-1 to Internacional in a Brazilian league match played early Thursday morning, Nigerian time.
A video shared online showed Neymar in a serious back-and-forth with the fan just after the final whistle. The incident happened at the Estádio Urbano Caldeira, where goalkeeper Brazão had to step in and calm Neymar down.
Throughout the game, Neymar was very active, making headlines both for his football skills and emotional reactions on the pitch.
At one point, Neymar thought he had scored an equalizer and began to celebrate wildly—he even broke the corner flag and tried to rip off his shirt. Sadly for him, the goal didn’t count as the ball hadn’t fully crossed the line.
According to DAILY POST, Internacional took the lead with goals from Johan Carbonero and Rafael Santos Borré. Although Álvaro Barreal scored late for Santos, it wasn’t enough to save them from defeat.
Neymar had several chances to score but couldn’t convert any of them. With this loss, Santos now sit in 17th place on the league table after 15 games, while Internacional are in 10th.
