Nigerian music star Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has been given Spotify’s Billion plaque after her hit song Wait For U with Future and Drake crossed over one billion streams.

This means the song has been played more than a billion times on the platform. With this achievement, Tems now joins other top Afrobeats artists like Wizkid, Rema, and Tyla, who have also reached this major milestone on Spotify.

The song Wait For U also earned Tems her first Grammy Award. She won in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category in 2023. Aside from that, the same song made Tems the first African artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 2022.
