WAFCON 2024: Rumours of Oshoala’s retirement swirl ahead of Super Falcon’s semi-final

On Monday, social media was filled with rumours that Super Falcons star player, Asisat Oshoala, had retired from international football.

Some users even claimed she made the decision just before Nigeria’s Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-final match against South Africa on Tuesday.

However, these rumours have been shut down by Colin Udoh, a former media officer of the Super Eagles.

In a video he posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Udoh said the whole story seemed suspicious from the beginning. He explained that Oshoala is too smart to make such an important announcement right before a big game.

He also pointed out that the retirement news was not shared on Oshoala’s official social media accounts.

Udoh added that when Oshoala decides to end her international career, she will do it properly and in a smarter way.

He ended by saying the news is just a rumour and fans should ignore it completely.

As Nigeria prepares to face South Africa in the WAFCON semi-final, Oshoala remains a key player for the Super Falcons.
